As you’re considering studying for the MCSE certificate, it’s probable that you fall into one of the following categories. You could be about to get into the IT environment, and your research tells you the IT industry has a huge demand for qualified people. Instead you are perhaps a knowledgeable person attempting to polish up your CV with the MCSE qualification.

When looking into training colleges, avoid any that compromise their offerings by failing to provide the latest level of Microsoft development. Overall, this will frustrate and cost the student a great deal more due to the fact that they’ve been taught from an outdated MCSE course which will require an up-date to suit the working environment.

Training providers must be committed to discovering the ultimate program for aspiring trainees. Educational direction is as much about helping people to work out which direction to go in, as it is giving them help to reach their destination.

An effective package of training will have fully authorised exam simulation and preparation packages.

Because a lot of IT examination boards come from the United States, you must be prepared for the way exams are phrased. You can’t practice properly by simply answering any old technical questions – they must be in an exam format that exactly replicates the real thing.

For many reasons, it’s very important to know that you’re absolutely ready for your final certified exam before taking it. Revising mock-up exams helps build your confidence and will save a lot of money on unsuccessful attempts at exams.

Of course: a course itself or a certification is not what you’re looking for; a job that you want is. Far too many training organisations over-emphasise the certificate itself.

Never let yourself become one of those unfortunate people that choose a course that seems ‘fun’ or ‘interesting’ – only to end up with a qualification for something they’ll never enjoy.

Be honest with yourself about what you want to earn and how ambitious you are. Sometimes, this affects what precise accreditations you will need and what you can expect to give industry in return.

The best advice for students is to talk with a skilled advisor before deciding on their study course. This gives some measure of assurance that it contains the commercially required skills for the chosen career path.

Can job security truly exist anywhere now? In a marketplace like the UK, where business constantly changes its mind whenever it suits, we’d question whether it does.

But a quickly growing market-place, with a constant demand for staff (through an enormous shortfall of properly qualified staff), enables the possibility of real job security.

Reviewing the IT sector, the 2006 e-Skills analysis brought to light an over 26 percent deficit in trained staff. That means for every four jobs available around IT, we have only 3 certified professionals to fill that need.

Acquiring the appropriate commercial Information Technology certification is therefore a ‘Fast Track’ to succeed in a continuing as well as pleasing livelihood.

It’s unlikely if a better time or market settings is ever likely to exist for getting certified in this rapidly growing and evolving industry.

Commercial qualifications are now, without a doubt, taking over from the traditional academic paths into the IT industry – but why is this the case?

Industry now recognises that to cover the necessary commercial skill-sets, official accreditation from the likes of Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe is closer to the mark commercially – at a far reduced cost both money and time wise.

In a nutshell, students are simply taught the necessary specifics in depth. Actually, it’s not quite as pared down as that, but the most important function is always to concentrate on the fundamentally important skill-sets (including a degree of required background) – without attempting to cover a bit about everything else – in the way that academic establishments often do.

The bottom line is: Recognised IT certifications let employers know exactly what you’re capable of – everything they need to know is in the title: for example, I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Managing and Maintaining Windows Server 2003′. Consequently an employer can look at their needs and what certifications are required to fulfil that.
